Description

IC443 is a spectacular cosmic example of a star exploding and leaving behind a rapidly spinning neutron star. The jets from the pulsar's poles are likely spreading the material in fascinating patterns and triggering additional star birth. I have captured this target in a prior year in pure RGB and it pales in comparison to what can be revealed through narrowband filters in my opinion. 3nm filters in the SHO palette was able to capture a lot of details and the whole night sky around the target is full of interesting spectral emissions.

Alas, my wife would not approve the budget for an X-ray spectrum telescope and I guess we all have to draw the line somewhere after jumping off the deep end in mono gear purchases . Feel free to read this interesting article and snapshot from the Xray bandpass showing the poles from NASA's Chandra observatory.
